As the smartphone becomes more and more ubiquitous, marketers and advertisers are realizing the importance of having not just a powerful digital and social media marketing plan in place, but a mobile marketing plan as well. According to Benjamin Grubbs, Executive Director, Interactive Media at Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific and a speaker at Click Asia Summit 2012</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">“<em>The area we are paying attention to in 2012 is mobile Internet and how adoption and consumption increases in the market with the entry of low-priced tablets and Nokia&#8217;s move to the Win7 operating platform&#8230;Our overall mobile usage increased 7X in 2011. We are bracing for even greater adoption of our content on mobile devices in 2012 via mobile browsers and new native applications we develop for the three main operating platforms in the market</em>”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">That the mobile will play a crucial role in the rise of the digital marketing is hardly surprising. After all, with the overwhelming popularity of tablets (the latest high-profile entrant in the market, the Kindle Fire, was the number one purchased item on Amazon.com this Christmas), and the smartphone boom, more and more people are taking to the internet while on the move to check the news, look for movie and dining recommendations, visit their favorite websites, play some social games and of course, post messages on social media platforms.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Social media will be the other big story in digital marketing in 2012. Sure, it&#8217;s already big, but experts predict that 2012 is the year it reaches critical mass and explodes into mass consciousness in 2012. Our speakers at CAS 2012 feel the same way, with Pradeep Chopra, the CEO of Digital Vidya, outlining his three big predictions for the year:</p>

Only then, advertising and promotions will be worth their money. Real-time marketing has to become right-time marketing</em>.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Of course, the focus on mobile will lead to other powerful opportunities, with micro-transactions gaining traction and speech recognition ala Apple&#8217;s Siri becoming more and more popular.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So what do marketers do to preapare themselves for the days ahead? How can they stand out? Here are three quick points that we believe will be of great significance in 2012.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">1. Thing mobile. Think touch. Think speech – If your website and marketing efforts are not mobile optimized, it&#8217;s high time they were. In the battle of the internet, the tablet and the smartphone WILL win. It&#8217;s just a matter of time.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">2. The audience is changing – People are busier now, and they&#8217;re smarter as well. They trust recommendations more than they trust ads, so change your strategy and language accordingly.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">3. Mind your reputation – Word-of-mouth works faster on the internet. In 2012, online reputation management will become even more crucial, and the companies that can react the fastest will surge ahead.</p>
